Searching “Tesla rental Chicago” gives you a wall of aggregator sites and platform listings. None of them actually tell you what’s available, what it costs, or which option makes sense for your situation.
This guide does. I host a gloss black wrapped Tesla Cybertruck on Turo out of Palatine, IL — so I know the Chicago Tesla rental market from the inside. Here’s the real landscape.
Every Tesla You Can Rent in Chicago
Five Tesla models are available for rent in the Chicago area right now. The prices below are what you’ll typically find on Turo, which has the widest selection:
| Model | Price/Day | Availability | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Model 3 | $46–$70 | Very High | Daily driver, airport trips |
| Model Y | $63–$77 | High | Families, road trips, more cargo |
| Model S | ~$108 | Low | Luxury sedan, performance |
| Model X | ~$129 | Low | Falcon wing doors, space |
| Cybertruck | $325–$450 | Limited | Head-turning experience |
The Model 3 and Model Y are the volume play — cheap, practical, and widely available. But nobody rents a Model 3 for their birthday or pulls up to prom in a Model Y. Those are transportation. The Cybertruck is the experience.
Where to Rent a Tesla in Chicago
Turo (Best Selection)
Turo is the largest peer-to-peer car rental platform and has the widest Tesla selection in Chicago. You book directly from individual owners, pick up the car, and drive. Insurance options are included at checkout. Most hosts offer flexible pickup locations across the city and suburbs.
For Cybertrucks specifically, Turo is your only real option. There are a handful of listings in the Chicago area — in the city itself, Skokie, Mundelein, and Palatine. Prices range from budget-tier bare steel trucks to premium wrapped trucks with experienced hosts.
Hertz & Enterprise
Hertz has Tesla Model 3 and Model Y rentals at Midway and O’Hare. But availability is spotty — Hertz sold off roughly 20,000 EVs in 2024 due to repair costs and depreciation. Enterprise has Tesla Model 3 through their Exotic Collection at select locations, but it’s not standard inventory.
Neither Hertz nor Enterprise offers the Cybertruck. If that’s what you want, Turo is the only path.
TeslaRents & Local Operators
TeslaRents operates in Chicago with door-to-door delivery service. Windy City EV is another local option. These are smaller operations with limited fleet size but they offer a more concierge-style experience.
Charging a Rental Tesla in Chicago
This is the question that stops most first-time EV renters. The answer is simpler than you think.
Tesla’s Supercharger network is the best in the business — over 60,000 chargers across North America. In the Chicago area, there are Superchargers throughout the city and suburbs, including a 14-stall station at O’Hare that’s open 24/7. Pull in, plug in, and the car handles the rest. No app required, no account needed — billing goes through Turo.
For a typical day of driving around Palatine, Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, or downtown Chicago, you won’t need to charge at all. Most Teslas start the trip with 200+ miles of range. A day in the suburbs uses 50–100 miles. You hand it back with plenty to spare.
Why the Cybertruck Is the Tesla People Actually Want to Rent
A Model 3 is a great car. But it doesn’t make anyone pull out their phone. The Cybertruck does.
Every guest who rents my Cybertruck says the same thing: people stare at every red light. Strangers ask to take photos at gas stations. Kids point and yell “Cybertruck!” from the sidewalk. It’s not just a car — it’s a social event on wheels.
And beyond the attention, the Cybertruck has features no other Tesla offers:
- Light Show — choreographed exterior lights synced to music. Park it at a party and let it run.
- Tron Mode — the Disney collaboration that turns the interior into a glowing Lightcycle cockpit.
- Camp Mode — climate control, music, and Netflix all night on barely any battery.
- 18.5” touchscreen — gaming, streaming, and full vehicle control from the largest screen in any production vehicle.

Price Comparison: Tesla Rentals vs. Other Options in Chicago
How do Tesla rentals stack up against other options in Chicago?
| Option | Price/Day | Experience |
|---|---|---|
| Enterprise sedan | $60–$100 | A car. Gets you there. |
| Tesla Model 3 (Turo) | $46–$70 | Smooth EV. Nobody notices. |
| Cybertruck (Turo) | $325–$450 | Every phone comes out. |
| Lamborghini (Turo) | $800–$1,500 | Exotic. 2–4x the price. |
| Stretch limo | $400–$1,000 | 4–6 hours only. Not 24. |
The Cybertruck sits in a sweet spot. It generates more attention than cars costing 3–4x more. And unlike a limo, you get it for a full 24 hours — not a timed window.
The Only Gloss Black Cybertruck in Chicago
Most Cybertrucks on Turo are bare stainless steel. Mine is a 2024 Foundation Edition with a full gloss black wrap. It photographs differently, stands out from every other Cybertruck on the road, and pairs beautifully with special occasions like prom and weddings.
Pickup is in Palatine, IL, serving Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Rolling Meadows, Hoffman Estates, and the greater Chicago area. I personally meet every guest, walk you through the truck, teach you Autopilot, and make sure you’re completely comfortable before you drive off.
33+ trips. 5.0 rating. All-Star Host. Every single review is five stars.
