How Much Does It Cost to Rent a Cybertruck?

By Jonathan Hsieh · February 2026 · 7 min read

“How much does it cost to rent a Cybertruck?” is the #1 question I get. The answer isn’t a single number — it depends on when you book, how long you need it, and what platform you use. But I’ll give you real numbers, not vague ranges.

I host a gloss black wrapped 2024 Tesla Cybertruck on Turo out of Palatine, IL. I’ve done 33+ trips with a 5.0 rating. Here’s exactly what pricing looks like and how to get the best deal.

What You’ll Actually Pay for a Cybertruck Rental

On Turo, the price you see at checkout includes two things: the host’s daily rate and Turo’s fees. Here’s how that breaks down:

Trip TypeWhat You’ll PayNotes
1-day (weekday)~$325Lowest rates, less demand
1-day (weekend)~$375–$400Higher demand, especially Saturdays
Prom / holiday weekend$400–$450Peak demand, book early
3-day trip~$650–$750Multi-day discount applies (10%+)
Weekly (7 days)~$1,400–$1,800Best per-day rate, significant discount

These are total prices — what you actually pay at checkout, including Turo’s service fees. No hidden charges. What you see is what you pay.

How Turo Pricing Works

Turo isn’t like Hertz or Enterprise. It’s a peer-to-peer platform — you’re renting directly from an owner (like me). Here’s how the pricing stack works:

  • Host’s daily rate — Set by the owner. This is the base price per day.
  • Turo service fee — Added on top. Typically 15–30% of the trip price. This covers Turo’s platform, customer support, and basic roadside assistance.
  • Protection plan — You choose your level at checkout. Turo offers three tiers: Minimum (lowest cost, up to $3,000 liability), Standard (~40% of trip price, up to $500 liability), and Premier (~65–100% of trip price, $0 liability). This is the biggest variable in your total cost. Most guests go with Standard — it’s the best balance of coverage and price.
  • Multi-day discount — Most hosts (including me) offer 10%+ off for 3+ day trips and larger discounts for weekly bookings. The per-day rate drops significantly the longer you book.

Optional extras

  • Prepaid EV Recharge — Add this at checkout if you don’t want to worry about returning the truck fully charged. It’s usually cheaper than Supercharger rates, and you just need to return it with at least 30 miles of range.
  • Extra mileage — The truck comes with 300 miles/day included. Additional miles are charged per mile if you go over. Most guests don’t come close to the limit.

How to Get the Best Price on a Cybertruck Rental

Turo uses dynamic pricing — rates change based on demand. Here are the actual levers you can pull:

  • Book early. This is the single biggest factor. Rates go up as your date approaches. Booking 2–4 weeks out can save you $50–$100+ compared to last-minute.
  • Choose weekdays. Weekday rates are noticeably lower than weekends. If you have flexibility, a Tuesday-to-Thursday trip will be the cheapest.
  • Book 3+ days. The multi-day discount kicks in at 3 days (10% off) and gets better with weekly bookings. Your per-day cost drops significantly.
  • Book 4+ days ahead for the Turo discount. Turo itself gives a booking discount when you reserve at least 4 days before your trip start date.
  • Choose a mid-tier protection plan. Premium protection is the most expensive add-on. If you have personal auto insurance that covers rentals, you may be able to use a lower-tier plan.
  • Skip extras you don’t need. If you’re only driving 50–100 miles, you probably don’t need prepaid recharge.

Cybertruck Rental vs. Other Options

Cybertruck vs. Stretch Limo

A stretch limo in Chicago runs $400–$1,000+ for a 4-6 hour window. A Cybertruck rental starts around $325 for the entire day — 24 hours. You get the truck for the full day instead of just a few hours, and you get a vehicle that generates 10x more attention. Read my prom comparison guide for the full breakdown.

Cybertruck vs. Lamborghini / Ferrari

Exotic supercars on Turo in Chicago run $800–$1,500+/day for a Lamborghini or Ferrari. That’s 2–4x the price of a Cybertruck. And while a Lambo is undeniably cool, the Cybertruck turns more heads in the suburbs because it’s rarer and more unusual-looking. At events, the Cybertruck draws a bigger crowd. For the full comparison, see my exotic rental guide.

Cybertruck vs. Regular Car Rental

Sure, you can rent an SUV from Enterprise for $80/day. But nobody takes photos in front of a Chevy Equinox. Nobody runs a light show in a parking lot. Nobody’s kid becomes the star of prom night because they showed up in a standard rental. The Cybertruck isn’t a car rental — it’s an experience. Most guests compare it to concert tickets or a nice dinner out, not a car rental.

Why Prices Vary Between Cybertruck Hosts

If you search Turo for Cybertrucks in Chicago, you’ll see prices ranging from around $150/day to $450/day. Why the spread?

  • Vehicle condition and modifications. A stock, bare stainless steel Cybertruck with a new host is going to be cheaper than a wrapped Foundation Edition with 33+ five-star trips. You get what you pay for.
  • Host experience and ratings. All-Star Hosts with perfect ratings charge more because the experience is proven. First-time hosts price low to build reviews.
  • What’s included. Some hosts hand you the keys and leave. I personally meet every guest, do a 15–20 minute walkthrough, teach Autopilot, show you the light show, and make sure you’re 100% comfortable. That level of service is part of the price.
  • The wrap. My Cybertruck has a full gloss black wrap. Most Cybertrucks look the same — bare steel. Mine is the only gloss black wrapped Cybertruck available for rent in the Chicago area. It photographs completely differently and stands out from every other Cybertruck on the road.

Is It Worth It?

I’ll let the guests answer that one.

“Fantastic experience with Jonathan. The Cyber Truck was awesome. Jonathan took time to walk us through the truck and even did a demo drive explaining everything to us. Super fun day, would definitely rent from Jonathan again.”

— Jeffrey

“We rented it for our son’s prom send off. Thank you Jonathan for being an awesome host and making this experience so worth it!! Definitely worth it and would rent with him again!!”

— Irene

33+ trips. 5.0 stars. Every single review is five stars. Nobody has ever said it wasn’t worth it.
